Crazy German Wedding Tradition

At the rehearsal dinner, people threw plates and cups (and even a kitchen sink -- literally) to smash them to pieces. The engaged couple spent the tail end of the evening cleaning up the mess -- yet another display of their most excellent teamwork!

@Joschicomic Vielleicht ist es in der Gegen, wo du wohnst nicht so verbreitet, kann gut sein. Normalerweise ist der Polterabend neben der Hochzeit dazu da vor allem nochmal mit den Leuten zu feiern, die man aus Größen- oder finanziellen Gründen nicht zur eigentlichen Hochzeit einladen kann. Ich kenne es so, dass die Leute meistens schon einen Abfallcontainer gemietet haben, in den dann nach dem Zerschmeißen alles zusammen gekehrt haben. Das Zertrümmern zumindest macht echt Spass =)

Oh yes, this is really funny. Part of the tradition is, that the couple has to clean it all up afterwards. When some of my friends got married, we only gave them toothbrushes. LOL. After a while they were given dishwashing-brushes. We are really mean, I know. Then somebody stumbled "accidentally" into the heap of broken fragments, so they had to start again.

Well, after we had a good laugh at the two, somebody fetched proper brooms and everbody helped to clean up.
