@86am That's because people are starving in those countries and everything is shit. If Japan had built skyscrapers after the tsunami then people would have said the same. Of course they didn't, since the Japanese are capable of running a society, something arabs have clearly showed they are unable to.

Well that doesnt give a very good impression, only 20 secs in and the narrator makes a crucial mistake -"Nearly Half a Kilometre Tall..." Thats bollox, its well over half a kilometre at 828 metres. Its half a MILE high. silly mistake..

It's interesting how these sorts of ostentatious projects are praised in the western world but when "3rd world" countries do it they are criticized for having the wrong priorities, ect as if they aren't capable of managing their own economies.

I understand that the building was renamed Burj Khalifa upon it's official opening this month. Up until then, or at least while under construction (and definitely when this program was made) it was the Burj Dubai.
Therefore I think the comment below about getting the name right is a little unfair
