Was a Sat diver in the North Sea 1971 - 1980. Great life . We were on a dollar a foot per day and a basic of £1000 per month - Month on/month off. In 1975 I was earning £5000 per month, but it was easy come, easy go!!. It was very experimental then and we were doing 12 hour lockouts working solo. In those days health and safety was no existent. Once we were told we were going to experiment with Neon gas as Helium was too expensive, so we just did what we were told. Not a great experience!

the minimum wage for a sat diver currently is about £1200 a day, there's only a handful of people who are qualified for this kind of diving, If I remember correctly it costs about £12,000 - £14,000 do train for this

I am currently performing research on Saturation Divers in the north sea. From what I have studied so far, these guys are like astronauts to me..

@Samurailord chicane - saltwater
I just removed a bunch of tripe. Don't people have anything better to do.
I think diving is paying off. I worked air for 5 years and have been diving sat for 2. Finally making some cash. I think you have to give up alot for this life style but it is worth it.
