@Bhobbs1985 Weapons, resources, and numbers are all that really matter. If my army is 10 times bigger than yours, it doesn't really mater how good your generals are, I can out last you, and that is all war is really, trying to last the longest and hoping the other guy quits before you have to. And I wouldn't say the US army "just happened to" starve the South out, it was pretty much guaranteed from the beginning that the Union would win.

They had the best military in terms of weapon and resource. The CSA by far had the best military minds & I wouldn’t consider men like General Lee, Jackson, JEB, Hood, and Cleburne as “Citizen rebels.” As much as some of the greatest military minds and tacticians ever....
The U.S army was more of an unfit military than the South’s tactic wise. They just happened to be able to starve and rape the south long enough that it spelled disaster no matter how great of a military you had.
