Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of R.B.I. Baseball from Namco and Tengen for the Nintendo Entertainment System. When R.B.I. Baseball released in 1988, it had plenty of competition on the base paths. The 8-bit era was a good era for baseball games, and even though the NES had a terrific line-up, R.B.I. Baseball was always at the top of the order. Developed by Namco and published on the NES by Atari's off-shoot brand Tengen, R.B.I. Baseball is an arcade-style baseball game in the classic 8-bit tradition. Virtually everything you do in the game — throwing, pitching and hitting — uses the same button, with movement and direction handled by the directional pad. It's simple to play, but there's also a fine art to mastering its mechanics. This video review features video gameplay footage of R.B.I. Baseball for the Nintendo Entertainment System and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
