I got this rocket stove design from Wendy DeWitt's "Sensible Food Storage" DVD and booklet http://www.seagullbook.com/lds-products-637480.html. It cost me nothing to build. I used a #10 can and four soup cans. I recommend using vermiculite as an insulator. I used sand because it was handy. Sand worked great too. It took me about 30 minutes to build the rocket stove. I have looked at a lot of rocket stove designs on youtube and this is the best design I have seen. It really is easy to build and it really works!

  • How long before the steel deteriorates?

  • @YiuTeub I have no idea. One is none, two is one. Make two :)

  • Doesn't look like much of a rocket stove to me.

  • @chuckbyf1 You are right. It doesn't look like a rocket but when you have it fired up it sure sounds like a rocket. You can design them to look like anything you want. I'd love to see a rocket design from your rocket stove.

  • @libzkie Thank you. I have watched the video a couple of times. A good video and a good man. I think they achieve the same goal, a stove that uses fuel efficiently. I know the plans for the rocket stove I built have been around for a long time. When I showed it to my mother she said, "Oh, a hobo stove."She saw these post WWII. I have also seen rocket stove videos that heat entire houses. I don't really care who "invented" it. I'm just glad the concept can be adapted to help so many people.

  • man i like the way you think PS those were some mighty petty feet

  • Don't listen to that guy. With the proper tools and experience, I bet you could build this in 15 minutes. I don't believe this is the best design though. You could have some built-in stands for the pot by leaving a lip at the top with holes for exhaust. And how about multiple holes on the bottom sides for air to get pulled into the flame. I realize air is already pulled in from the loader but just wondering if multiple holes would work better because the wood is blocking air input.

  • @YiuTeub you're probably not going to deteriorate steel with such low heat. At sufficient heat, steel will melt. I'd say this thing will outlive us all!

  • Love your videos thank you!!

  • Do you realize that burning pressure treated wood produces toxic gas ? Looking at the wood you are using there at it appears to be pressure treated. When you burn copper arsenate-treated wood you release harmful doses of arsenic, not something you want to boil water over or sit around and enjoy.

  • @libzkie im impressed with your vocabulary. if you know im a grandpa, then youve been to my channel. kindly refrain from from returning.

  • @libzkie i went to your channel, and of course and as usual, the most argumentive on someone elses video never have any videos of thier own on youtube. nothing.zip zilch nada. its nearly always the case.i get these on my channel also. the other day i had someone stop by my chanell to tell me i was using a file wrong. thank God most people on youtube are awesome folks.

  • I'd be careful with that pressure treated wood scraps. I'm not sure if they still have arsenic in the PT mixture....but I'd stay away from it. Bad juju.

Looks cool though....I'm lookin to build one or two of these myself...."proof of concept" if you will...

  • Umm, have to point out that the lumber scraps you are using look to be pressure treated, when this type of wood is burned, it gives off extremely toxic gasses and heavy metals. Whole families have been poisoned from this practice, and of course not so good for our enviroment. Pine needles may not be a good choice, but this is far worse.
