I've seen a lot of movies - this has to be one of the earliest. I'm listening to Ben-Hur on the librivox audio site. What a powerful historical novel that has been repeatedly made into films - and influenced how milllions viewed Ancient Rome. It's not great literature, but....what a story!

napabar,I'd like to say thank you for making this 104 yr.old film available for silent film fans,like myself,to watch.
Also,some people(who are not idiots)will understand why this movie isn't exactly in great shape.I think it 's a sign of the times...they did the best with what they had at the time.

If you think this version is crazy you should watch the 1876 film. The chariot race in that one took 3 months to film, 3200 people died, even extras and directors, and it cost $45,000 (2 trillion in today's dollars).

Celluloid was in it's infancy in 1907. Comparing this to a 1925 movie is like comparing a Apple II to a iMac.
