It's funny how these people belittle someone who is making a difference in the world by what they are doing, at least this Org is doing something besides sitting around and trashing others on what they are and aren't doing...pitch your idea of solar stills and put as much effort and work into that as they have to this project, grow up and stop criticizing an organization who is helping others.

"independence is better than charity", you are correct. I just dont feel comfortable with banks profiting with interest loans for a basic necessity. In an ideal world home loans would also be interest free since it is also a basic necessity to have shelter. Everything else, sure, charge interest if people are willing to be debt slaves for a new car or holiday etc, their choice but not for basic human needs. Loans not hand outs/charity, sure, unless barter is the main currency, then what?

yes, there was such a system but I admit I forget details but Im sure google search will show results. It was and possibly still is a reality faced in Australia to have to drink 'pee pee water'...yeah, I still can't come at this idea as you can tell >.<.

I think I understood it the same as you, this loan to poor by 'local bank' who are happy to get 'huge interest'.....so, they get water but exploited at the same time. Surely an interest free loan could be organized? I hope that I misunderstood some how because obviously solving water issues is important but enslaving to debt is risking business.

I believe it was Matt Damon who said that all Americans should be issued a passport and encouraged to leave the US and travel to other countries to see what the rest of the world is like. I totally agree. We have wealth and freedoms that many many others around the world don't have. So we have responsibility for protecting our freedoms and our citizens but we also have the responsibility for helping others and water.org is one smart and workable program. Hats off. I'll donate.

Another way to support initiatives like this in a tertiary way is to make more noise about how neo-colonialism by France, US, UK and many others have kept third world nations in their status by way of economic warfare via bad World Bank and IMF loans, despotic dictators and a whole host of 'weapons' used against the poor in this world to enrich banking cartels.

Wasn't Dean Kamen working on a water purification system a couple years back that was going to be able to process anything? I thought it was going to have the capability to actually process raw sewage into drinking water, no joke.
