A radiologist reviews the CT scan and upper GI series findings in a patient with SMA (Superior Mesenteric Artery) syndrome. The duodenum (the first part of the small bowel) gets pinched between the Aorta and SMA. The UGI series shows up to 2 hour delayed images. Note how narrow the 3rd portion of the duodenum is on the axial CT images. All imaging performed at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC.
