Fire Maringo by Forebitter

alright, what I'm wondering is who did this song, cause it's amazing.

What I love about your works is that some of em are bout an old whale-fishery, which is not a popular theme novadays, but it always moves my heart, as it's bout men's bravery and fight against the forces of nature and big, half-legendary sea-monsters :).
Ofc I know that the whales are thinking beings and they got their feelings, but this old, traditional whaling was justified cause they needed their spermaceti and fishbone to make their living...

Thank you

The name "Marengo" used in this song has a couple of different origins, none of which firmly ties in with the music. The "he" to which is referred in the first two verses is probably bales of cotton being stored in the hold for transport.

What is the song playing during the credits roll? Sounds interesting!

also! this version reuben Ranzo has been performed by the x seamen's institute apparently =D
My grandson just showed me this clip, asking if I knew the tune. I did remember singing this on the USS Iowa in World War II. It made me remember how much these shanties meant to our crew. I am now a fan of this man's work. Please keep up the good work!
