Here's what President Obama doesn't get about progressives... we do not mind if he fights for something and loses or has to compromise due to political realities. What annoys us is when he doesn't fight at all or-- which is the more often thing-- when his starting position on something IS the compromise. Because if you start off making concessions in a fight, you will always lose, and then we lose.

He seems to care more about compromise itself rather than any specific endgame.

Moreover, the idea that Obama is super progressive IS a right-wing fantasy? Compared to who? By European standards, he's super conservative. Even by American standards, he's to the right on many issues of every U.S. President since FDR, except for Bush 2.

And by buying into the false GOP rhetoric that the deficit is what matters now-- instead of the task of getting America back to work, no matter what-- he has ceded the great debate of our time before it even began.
