In 1995 the Black Irish Band recorded the original song,"Yosemite Waltz". The song was written by band member Patrick Michael Karnahan. This was no easy task for Patrick wanted to record his classic score with a full orchestra. By bringing in special guest musicians it was possible to record all the parts. Band member Richard Restivo wrote out all the parts and was a big help with the arrangement. The song will be re-released in August 2008 on the bands 18th CD, California Story.
In May of 2007, Patrick got his wish to record one of his original songs with a full sitting orchestra. Michael Martin Murphey introduced Patrick to His string arranger, Howard Hudlberg. Howard worked with Patrick on his original, "South Canyon" in honor of the 14 fire fighters that died in Colorado in 1994. That song can be found on the 'chains required' You-tube hosted site owned by Bob Russel.
Delightful.
