Filmed at the Regal in 1983 this vid really shows the difference between the sound of the Jaydee and the Status basses he uses today.
For me it will always be the Jaydee and in this vid you can really hear the thump of the bass.

  • I love Mike's solo! Yeah, the JD sounds amazing; it sounds raw and dirty. I used to have a JD, but it got stolen!

  • I what you mean about the bass man. I think some songs like Turn it on and Livin it up need a Jaydee bass. The Status is great too and it has a very clean and clear sound more suited to their more commercial songs. I don't thing Mark would ever go back to the JD because he would consider it a step back. Level 42's sound has slightly evolved from being very raw to a more clean sound now. Anyway they still got the funk!!

  • Bloody awesome. Remember being at this gig and getting it videoed and recorded onto cassette at home. Sound on the cassette was awesome because it was transmitted in VHF!! Wore the tape out mind you..
