Actually, because of its design, it's one of the safest baby carriers. It's all one piece, so there are no clips to break - the most common problem of baby carriers. The pouch where the baby sits is curved, so it's virtually impossible for the baby to fall out. The kid can even flip all the way backwards, be upside down and still not fall out. It's a single layer of fabric, so there's no risk of suffocation.
I've used this sling for 8 years with 4 kids and never once had a safety issue.
