Sounds like the Indian government and media are using the word "Maoist" as a catch all term much the same the way the US government uses the word "Terrorist" for any activity they don't like

don't know what naxals/maoist are ? but i do know that a poor group of people fighting the might of a state can not be terrorist which is surely going to be signficant loss of lives for them. It has to be some form of natural resistance.

Instead of thinking about titles such as "maoists", "democratic process" and etc., think about individual lives. Imagine if your mom or your brother was killed in the attacks by any army, how would you feel? Be sensitive and listen to what they are saying.
