Brooklyn native, Marisa Tomei was attending Boston University, when she was cast in the CBS daytime soap opera As the World Turns; she subsequently left school and played the teenager Marcy Thompson on the show from 1983 to 1985. She made her feature film debut in 1984 in The Flamingo Kid, starring Matt Dillon. After leaving As the World Turns, she appeared in Off-Broadway productions like Daughters (1985) before moving to Los Angeles. In 1987, she landed a role as a roommate of Lisa Bonet's character during the first season of the sitcom A Different World, a short-lived spinoff of The Cosby Show.

Golden Globe-nominated American comedienne, Phyllis Diller, considered to be one of the pioneers of female stand-up comedy, guests as Tomei's fairy godmother.

  • It's funny. Marisa actually looked a lot better in her 30's than she did in her 20's. I guess she had to grow into her looks.

  • Yeah, and the '80s getup doesn't help either :-) Marisa in her 40's is as good as her 30's -- have you seen "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead"? Her nude scenes about gave me a stroke!

  • I've always had a crush on Marisa Tomei.Till this day she is still gorgeous.

  • what was this show? was it for real?

  • "In 1987, she landed a role as a roommate of Lisa Bonet's character during the first season of the sitcom A Different World, a short-lived spinoff of The Cosby Show." Since when is six seasons a short-lived show? Her role was short-lived, but the show wasn't.

  • "I hate to ask this, but am I gonna meet a prince"

"I didn't do all this for you to meet a plummer!" loool haha Marisa looks cute

  • Yep--as Kirk McColl. I think he was Frannie's boyfriend at this time, and Marcy (Tomei) had a huge crush on him.

Later on, Marcy really did marry an aristocrat, Lord Stewart Cushing.

  • Oh my damn. Phyllis Diller.

  • This was pretty funny - nice one-liners - and turning the other chick into a dog - LOL!

  • are you that hot?. I want to meet you already and have a couple of kids
