by Jasus you're damn lucky you've got a tractor, all I've got is my spade, from the skip man in Garvagh
-
@Glenviggan how exactly does this machine work?
-
@macthetrac I sell components to the Guy that built most of the ones sold In Ireland. Drop me an email and I will give you his contact details. He is always refurbishing old units as well as building new ones.

Hi, that machine makes it look so easy, I am from the scottish highlands and cut peat (as we call it) by hand, what you have done in the vid would take five of us a whole morning to do, What make is that machine and are they easy to come by second hand? I would be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction to finding one, Cheers

just puts out 2 row , your cutter there is way better than ours. ours is wild sore on berrings. its a kina home made thing but works the same way as yours. we had it on a zetor last year but we thought she was a bit heavy this year. the zetor had a slower 1st gear ,the wee nash was nearly goin a bit quick and wasnt filling out the rows. but then she wasnt sinking in as far. so a bit o a comprimise.
u lucky your moss is as dry. we cut with the same method in bellaghy but its real wet! even that tractor would be too heavy. we use a wee international374, duels all round and no cab,she just floats on it !! we walk behind with a blade on a long shaft and make a cut in the turf every foot or so, makes them easier worked with when they dry. gud vid

Thanks. Was in bellaghy earlier on this year around June time cutting turf just off main road between Gulladuff and Bellaghy; very deep moss! The Zetor would nearly drive on dirty water!!!!!
How many turf does your machine put out?
