To defeat evil, we may have to traffic in evils: indefinite detention of suspects, coercive interrogations, targeted assassinations, even pre-emptive war.
Michael Ignatieff
(New York Times Magazine, May 2004.)
According to the U.S Army manuals, terrorism is the calculated use of violence or threat of violence to attain goals that are political, religious, or ideological in nature..through intimidation, coercion, or instilling fear
Michael Ignateiff distinguishes three types of terrorism, loner terrorism, self determination terrorism and the terrorism of the global spectacular.
He gave examples of terrorists, such as Palestinian suicide bombers, Timothy McVeigh, the dude that killed Kennedy, The Columbine murderers, Washington sniper, and of course Al Qadeda.
He did not mention the concept of state sponsored terrorism. Noam Chomsky would consider the car bombing in Beirut in 1985 , organized by the CIA and its Saudi clients , with the assistance of British Intelligence as an example of state sponsored terrorism, or Israels invasion of Lebanon which left 18,000 dead, and The U.Ss attack on Nicaragua in 1986, condemned by the International Court of Justice and the U.N security Council as an act of terrorist against Nicaragua.
Michale Ignateiff considered preventive or investigative detention, targeted killing, intensive interrogation as a necessary part of the war on terror , fought on behalf of free people living in western democracies against failed states.
Noam Chomsky would disagree with Ignateiff because his definition of terrorism should not applied only to terrorism against us, but the terrorism we carry out against them as well.
Ignatieff also supported the U.Ss invasion on Iraq.
Recently, in response to Canadas opposition to Iraq war: Igantieff said that What I felt was disappointing about a lot of Canadian opposition to the war was that very few people seemed to give a damn about the human-rights situation," Ignatieff says. "Very few seemed to care that peace had the consequence of leaving 26 million people inside a really odious tyranny.
He said The honest case for war was ''preventive'' -- to stop a tyrant with malignant intentions from acquiring lethal capabilities or transferring those capabilities to other enemies"
The discovery that Hussein didn't have weapons after all surprises me, but it doesn't change my view of the essential issue. I never thought the key question was what weapons he actually possessed but rather what intentions he had.
I still do not believe that American or British leaders misrepresented Hussein's intentions or lied about the weapons
When asked about the bad history of U.S foreign policies and how that it could be hypocritical for the U.S to bring freedoms and democracy to Iraq, he noted that good deeds are often done by people with bad histories
In this light, Michael is similar to Tony Blair, George Bush and other mainstream liberals who believe that western democracies cannot turn our backs on the violation of human rights in other countries if we want to be secure."
But of course, in reality, these people could also be waging war in the name of freedom, and turning a blind eye on innocent people being killed.
Indeeed, in an August 2 interview with the Toronto Star. When asked to comment on the July 30 Israeli bombing of the town of Qana, where at least 54 Lebanese civilians were killed in a single missile strike, Ignatieff replied: This is the kind of dirty war you're in when you have to do this and I'm not losing sleep about that.
Ignatieff suggested that I framed my conditions for the use of military force in the belief that force can only be justified if it achieves precise military objectives.
He also supported the military intervention over Kosovo in 1999. Just like the war on Iraq, it did not have U.N authorization. Indeed, Nato failed to seek UN authorisation for its attack on Serbia.
So there you have it, our mainstream alternative to Stephen Harper , Michael Ignateiff, the leader of the Liberal party of Canada.

Stephen Harper, he is the leader of the conservative party and the prime minister of Canada. He supported the iraq war, like Michale Ignateiff, the leader of the official opposition in Canada.
is this a quiz?

When you are making your videos, please do not move your arms around so much, they blur the picture. Other than your moving around too much, this is not a bad video.
