Maybe youve lost your mate or are just plain single. Youre still yearning to travel, can still afford to do so, but have no one to go with. This segment explores an alternative method of travel which may be the perfect answer for you - Volunteer Working Vacations!

Guests Carrie Garrett of Riverside and Peggy Burnett of San Bernardino, CA - both retired registered nursesdescribe this intriguing class of programs which allows you to become immersed in a culture while, at the same time, making a contribution of a service, talent, or skill. You pay for your own travel expenses but enjoy a tax benefit for whatever portion of the trip is volunteer, versus pleasure, based.

Covered are Global Volunteers programs which are humanitarian in nature (teaching, building, caring for the sick, etc.) and Earthwatch, which is environmentally and science-based (tracking butterflies, counting polar bears, etc.) Determine what interests you most, then select the country, domestic program, or type of project that suits you best and youll be placed with a volunteer team of like-minded people. Housing arrangements are made for you. For more information, you may visit www.earthwatch.org and www.globalvolunteers.org.
