66608 passes Skelton in Cleveland with a Potash train from Boulby mine on the 2nd April 2007. Typically my phone rang just as it approached, so apologies for the brief fumbling at the beginning.

  • @leeky7 Apparently 4 a day, 3 X Potash and 1 X Rock Salt.

  • I am not quite sure myself, but I believe there are normally two workings a day to and from Boulby, as well as the daily(?) trips to and from Skinningrove Iron Works. I have seen potash and steel trains crossing at Crag Hall, which is the one intermediate block post adjacent to Skinningrove. It is quite something to see these long heavy trains climbing up towards Hunt Cliff. Even more something to ride it behind the K1 in May!!

  • We walked alongside this line in 1984 - see my video Cleveland Way 1984. Al e.g. part 9

  • I'll be on the Moors in August - how often do these trains run? Interesting stuff.
