When I had a lot of time on my hands, many years ago, I took advantage of the fact that when the PS2 shipped in the UK, SONY saved 2.2% import duty by giving it a programming facility.
So after a lot of messing around I got to this:
No clipping, basic lighting, basic culling, basic collision, but hey! it played like a game.
Please 'scuse the bad quality of the video off the TV.

This link has everything you need to know about programming Yabasic on the PS2

  • The code on your blog will not run in any ps2yabasic emulator. it has many syntax errors. Looks to me like much of the text is missing. can you re-upload a working version please.

  • If you look at my profile again you'll find there is a new link up to the pool code which doesn't have the typo problem.

  • Any chance you could upload the file for download.

  • If you click on my name at the right you will see a link to an old blog site which lists the code.

You're welcome to do anything with the code you want, although I wont be answering any questions on the blog or here since its ancient history for me now. BTW You may know the text editing function in PS2 yabasic is rubbish and so therfore the code for this has much that is redundant and unused left in it from other projects I had written.

  • i have a demo that came whit my ps2 that had yabasic but i never understood what do u do whit it

can someone say what do u do whit that?

  • If you click more info on the right of the video you will see a useful _PS2 Yabasic link added to the description.

  • Thanks, I got it running on my PS2 and PS3 now. The Demo disk was also shipped in Australia, but I got my PS2 too late and only found the disk at a 2ndhand shop a couple of years ago.

  • I'm going to try and modify your code so that it will run on a pc. Basically I need to remove the "Peek" statements and supply the keyboard code for the routine as the replacement.

  • God bless you Canard this is without a doubt one of the best ps2yabasic programs ever written its a toss up between this and Formula1 ps2yabasic by stonemonkey for top of all time

  • It did actually come with the Danish version to. So i think it was most of europe who got it.

    Very nice btw,
