Mrs. Kutach finds a local maximum of the fundtion in front of a live classroom audience. The problem: For what value of x does the function f(x) = (x-2)(x-3)^2 have a local maximum? The answer choices are -3, -7/3, -5/2, 7/3, and 5/2. The chain rule is used in conjunction with the chain rule to differentiate the function.
