On Thursday June 22nd, 2006 a large crowd had gathered at the strip mall on the eastside of Jane St south of Wilson Ave.

The crowd which was believed to number somewhere between two-hundred (200) to four-hundred (400) people was celebrating the Ghana national soccer team victory over the United States in the World Cup of Soccer.

By all accounts the crowd was orderly and well behaved and people of Ghanan descent had travelled from all over the Greater Toronto Area to celebrate this event.

Shortly around 6:30 p.m. officers from 31 Division who were present to assist with crowd and traffic control were directed to an area in the middle of the plaza parking lot.

At this time officers came upon a number of male persons fighting and as they dispersed and fled upon the arrival of the police, Reon Paul was found on the ground, unconscious and bleeding.

Reon Paul was given aid and rushed to hospital where he later died as the result of his injuries.

For all you people making comments about this young mans death please keep in mind that he was someones son, someones friend, someones brother. Please show some respect and restrain from putting on a tough guy act. I'm sure your all "toughness" would quickly disappear if that was you laying there. Anyways I know the police are not going to catch who did this and it is unfortunate.

If he was black, white, or indian it doesn't matter he was a creation of God, as we all are, God bless his family. If any of his family are seeing this, I pray that you stay strong. I was talking to a female in my class a few years ago and she is the mother of this young mans child, he was unable to see his child, and she does miss him deeply. Just think if this was your father, son, uncle, brother, boyfriend, or loved one, please show some respect.

I have lived with a burden so deep. I don't know what to do-do I tell his loving family how I saw their dying if not deceased son's body because I was in the exact same emergency ward and the racial comments and the way that certain medical teams treated his body and the comments still ring in my ears. I cried for him, this beautiful person despite being so unwell myself. I need to talk to his mother but I can't hurt her with this truth but the comments and the treatment was racist inhumane
