The University of Vermont swimming and diving team dropped its first meet of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling on the road at New Hampshire 168-132. The Catamounts had set a new school record by winning their first seven meets of the season and are now 7-1 overall on the year.
Vermont broke three New Hampshire pool records and three UVM varsity marks on the day, as senior Avery Pittman, junior Kailey Gardner and sophomore Claudia Etherington each won two events. Etherington set two new UNH pool marks and two UVM varsity records by sweeping the two backstroke events. She won the 100 in 56.11 and the 200 in 1:59.47.
