  • You can use any volume. You'll arrive at the same answer. It's just more convenient to use one liter.

    A concentration of 0.30M means 0.30 moles of solute per liter of solution. "Per liter" means "for one liter." If you have twice as much volume, then you'll have twice as much solute. So, you can use 0.60 moles over 2 liters.
