The best way to prevent a car amplifier from overheating is to buy an amplifier that isn't too cheap, as cheap amplifiers often give off most of their power in the form of heat. Keep a car amplifier well ventilated to prevent it from overheating with help from a car sound system designer in this free video on car audio tips.

  • @OBARRVAGOS also being under the seat...most cars have heater vents under the seat too so its prolly settin on top of that vent unless ur car doesnt have vents under the seat and when u turn the heat on in ur car some of that hot air is going to be blowing up under ur amp and that cant be good...if it was cold air blowing then that be great though

  • does bridging a 2 channel amp create more heat and shorten the life of the amp?

  • MASSIVE NECK!!

  • I just got two 10's & 800 watt amp, both interfire. Not hitting as much as I think it should. My amp seems to like to over heat too. I change the ground wire bolt, & its better, no more over heating. But I still think im trying to push more power out of my subs then allowed. I havent upgraded my car speakers yet tho, will that make a big difference? someone help me out. Im new to this stuff.

  • I disagree. Overheating is caused by ONLY clipping or oscillation. Most "cheaper" amps lie about specs so much, most 3000W amps barely make 300wrms at way below 4ohm. Rather look at the voltage coming out of the amp to make your decisions and not the packaging. Multiple the fuse with 13.8 or 14.4 to get True wattage.
