This one was the best of the passes I captured. I only ended up with a few small drops of retardant drifting on me. This aircraft #489 was operating out of Castlegar BC.

  • T89 is a great old bird. She was actually one of the original pre-production Lockheed / Allison testbeds. The only Electra to be fitted with underbelly speed brakes which turned out to be unnecessary as the props do such a good job of slowing the plane down in the air and on the ground. Now with the superb Aero Union digitally controlled constant flow bomb tank Air Spray's Electras are the fastest response tanker out there. With excellent pilots behind the wheel they can box in a fire quick.
