Last night time shuttle launch (Cocoa Beach 3/15/2009)

This is me filming the last night time (more like twilight) shuttle launch of this shuttle before it is retired. We are on Cocoa Beach right near Ron Johns. There were thousands of people on the beach. The first time you hear the crowd cheer its for the shuttle launching, the second time is when your that close to the launch pad, about 30 seconds after it launches your hear the loud rumble of the jets. It takes a while for the sound to reach you. Unfortuanetly it's blocked out by the wind. Or should I say made louder by the wind. I've lived in Orlando my entire life and this is the closest I've ever been while seeing the shuttle launch. I'm a goon!

Side Note:

My camera work is so shitty because I wanted to view the launch in person...not on a tiny 2.5 inch LCD display screen. So I'm basically just pointing the camera in that direction.

we are goin down for the atlantis launch in may...planning to watch from near ron jons....were you happy with your location??? It's a once in a lifetime so we want to have been able to see ok..??

very happy...but i would recommend going onto the actual launch pad area if you can

That "gray streak" at 1:50 is a shadow caused by the sunlight hitting the plume of smoke from the SRBs. The sunlight around the rest of the sky makes it look like the shadow is coming out of nowhere. Although, that "head lights" comment was funny.

I beleive here is another launch i live in orlando and my friends aunt works for NSA lives in titusville right near kennedy, but there will be a night launch in february @ 4 am or sumtn like that im pretty sure its Atlantis too, but there is always a risk of a delay.
