  • Try doing that on a mill

  • @honeybunchickens - I've done it on the mill too, it just takes longer.

  • how much to do this?

  • @geniex:

If I have the tool, $15 each, If I have to make the tool, min $100.

  • ..seems like nowdays it would be more cost effective to buy the pistons already setup with a receiver groove. SBC pistons are commonly sold for bushed fit. How much do you charge to machine the grooves? Did you machine these pistons because the customer already purchased floating rods? Just trying to understand why to machine a groove vs buying floating pinned pistons . Seems like alot of labor when it could have been avoided by buying the right pistons. Just wondering, and thanks for the videos

  • @formula406mpfi:

This was a R&D project that we were doing and it was less expensive than the alternative.

  • @ghostwrx . Every internal combustion engine I have built. ...over a thousand in my life time... has pistons that are NOT round ....

  • That is so cool to know how to do that. Where was that stand on career day at school.

  • is that an aluminum piston is it at leas iron plated that thing is going to expand big time

  • ghostwrx,

    '

    okay thank

  • @fiatnutz $100 each? Or 100 for the tool, then 15 each?

  • Only in America do the ciclips go "snap" when they are released. In other countries they go "cir" . That's why only in America they are named snap rings.
