Working together for the recognition of Falconry as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

The second Festival of Falconry, took place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July 2009 at Englefield Estate, Theale, Nr Reading.

The Festival is hosted in the United Kingdom by the Hawk Board, the umbrella body for UK falconers. And it is strongly supported by the Emirates Falconry Club which kindly sponsors attendance by many nations.

The Festival is a forum for international relationships. Over fifty nations attended and each demonstrated how and why a love of birds of prey is so central to their community.

A key element of the 2009 festival was the submission by Arab falconry, on behalf of several countries, to have falconry recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Arab falconers were on hand to explain how their desert heritage binds them together - linking past with present and future life.
