Manon Bennett sings 'My Magic Dream' at the 2009 Đurđevdan Festival in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, representing France. Her song came second overall and won the popular vote.
The music and lyrics were written by Mladen Matović, an extremely talented composer from Banja Luka, and arranged by Pavle Bogdanović. It is primarily in English, but also contains a section in the local language and Manon says some words in French at two points.
The winning entry was another song by Mladen Matović called 'Rijeći'. Songs by Mladen Matović won the Đurđevdan Festival in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and he did not enter a song in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Manon, who is Anglo-French but lives in Sarajevo, had just turned nine at the time of the Festival, which took place on 15 May 2009. In Sarajevo, Manon sings with the children's choir 'Princess krofne'. She was inspired in part to start singing by child singing sensation Connie Talbot.
The lyrics are the following:
Tonight
Close your eyes
And fly with me
Across the sea
We can touch the moonlight
Dance with stars
We can do anything we want
In my dream
Please
Close your eyes
Make a wish
Take my hand
And just believe
In a world
Where we can all be friends
Just close your eyes and believe
(Ferme les yeux)
Close your eyes and you'll see
The magic world
Right place
For me and for you
If we just believe
Our dreams can become true
So dream, just dream
And firmly believe
Just close your eyes and you'll see
My magic Dream
Nek nočas sanjaju svi
Divan san, nestvaran
Nek u ljubav, vjeru vrate svi
Just close your eyes and believe
(Ferme les yeux)
Close your eyes and you'll see
The magic world
Right place
For me and for you
If we just believe
Our dreams can become true
So dream, just dream
And firmly believe
Just close your eyes and you'll see
My magic dream
Just close your eyes and you'll see
My magic dream
Beautiful singing, haunting song and good dancer. She deserves more than 1 like in 2 1/2 years, she's better than most of her age (and older).
