  • I have several of his records, and without fail, that guitar has a very DISTINCT tone, very beautiful. I can almost pick it out in a crowd.

I always wonder how much of that tone is the guitar, how much is the string brand he chooses, and how much is Christopher.

    Excellent, nevertheless. No, not excellent....SUPERB.

  • I like the way Christopher Parkening plays this piece, nice and clean with a warm tone.

  • @antione101 Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm currently working off of Jerry Willard's transcription and will add some appropriate strumming and some repeats to lengthen the piece. My favorite version is Angel Romero's. Fun piece to play!

  • @gear1152 My transcription is from Parkening himself which he sent to us after a masterclass in which someone in our group had performed Carnios as their piece. The strumming is nothing insane. I'm sure you could figure it out in a short time as it's exactly the same notes as most of the modern versions.

  • @antione101 Which transcription did you get? I'm looking for a good one for this piece but am having trouble finding the transcription used by Parkening or Romero, etc. I can only find simpler transcriptions that don't include the resgueado parts. Any help you could provide would be great.

  • a real masterperformance,awesome!

  • @dreynol100 Unbelievable, but for the great virtuoso everything is possible

  • REV 18

  • I attended a master class of Parkening's in Montana and it was sometime after this tonight show performance. The question was asked as to why he only used his "i" finger on this piece. He said that he had had a problem with, I think he said, his fingernail on the "m" finger and he had to make a last minute adjustment before he went on stage. Truly amazing.

  • Is he only using his "i" finger the entire time?? I have the sheet music for this which he gave me. I always wondered why his right hand fingerings were always sweeps. Makes sense to me now seeing this close up. To each their own I guess. Whatever makes it happen. And, he makes it happen.
