This is a video I made to assist my final presentation for 1st semester, 3rd year Architecture at Melbourne Uni. It was a rushed job done the night before, but I was still pleased with it. The site was on La Trobe Street in Melbourne on the north-eastern corner of the CBD. The brief asked for a car showroom (brand of our own choosing, I choose classic cars), a service centre, a carpark (300 cars), a mini-golf course and a bachelors apartment for the owner. While the last two requirements were fanciful, they did add some 'story' to the brief. To deal with this complicated brief, I broke the building down into it's three largest parts (showroom, service centre, carpark) and dealt with them individually. This approach would also easily allow facades to be designed for the constricted views one gets in the city. Also, due to the narrowness of the site, I opted for a mechanical parking system instead of ramps to save space. And that's a brief rundown of the design behind the building :)
