It's mostly a matter of personal taste. If you're just looking for some train noise at the front end, one or two units with sound will get you by.
I for one prefer all my locos to emit sounds, as the multiple prime movers and random equipment noises from several distinct sources makes for a great realistic ruckus effect.

I listened to the entire video this time. Must say that I'm very impressed as to how accurate the prime mover sounds. No mistaking that music for a GE. Even the varying throttle changes sound impressive. IMHO, better than the QSI samples I've heard so far.

The only annoying downside of the Tsunami decoders is the inability to synchronize the throttle RPMs with actual movement even after programming momentum. Not so bad on road or passenger units making long distance runs, but for local switching manuveurs it's quite noticeable.

Sounds great! And in a D&H lightning stripe makes it s sound so much sweeter!

I watched all 10 mintutes. When it was finished, I said "shit."

How much are those Tsunami decoders?

Only the lead unit has a sound decoder. You really only need 1 or 2 units in a consist to have sound.

Very nice! What speaker arrangement did you use?

That unit has a small oval high bass speaker in its' own supplied enclosure.
