This is what it looks like when you hear your hard drive making a weird clicking sound. This means that you need a new hard drive. Unfortunately for us, we were not able to get any data off of this drive once it started making this noise. However, if your hard drive starts to make noise, don't take it lightly! Backup everything on the drive that you care about, and then get a new one ASAP. Hard drives are not supposed to make noises, so if you hear it, it's a warning sign that it's about to die.

  • If a hard drive is like broken, is it possible to just take out the disk and put it into a new hard drive disk and have it work?

  • @UEMstudios, Yes, that's possible in some cases, but I have no idea how to do it. Usually you would have to pay someone a lot of money to do that. :-/

  • if hard drive is making that noice and doing that can stuff still be saved and backed up off of it

and if not can that disc be put into another unit just like it so i can save my pict off of it

  • @jusbcuzkat: If it's doing this, it's pretty much dead. No real chance of saving pics off of it. Sorry. :/

  • Hard drive is damaged

  • @UEMstudios Yep :P

  • @darkenlightenment Lol so you're saying it would be virtually impossible for me to do it myself :P lmao

  • @UEMstudios Not sure if you've already found an answer to this, but to swap the disks into another "shell" for continued use, you would have to do it in an airtight vacuumed room. Basically, if you open the hard drive shell in say, your room, it may as well be dead because dust and contaminated air would have settled on the disk by the time you opened the shell. Then you're boned. Lol, hope that answers your question.

  • Makes a good metronome.

  • But it in the freezer van one night, people and many website recommend this

but you have only 20 minutes to gett off data

  • Wow... >_>

  • My Laptop's Hard-Drive (4 Years Old) sometimes does a clicking noise. It is like "Click" "Clerk", "Click", and does it whenever I access the Hard-Drive. It is not too noisy but noticable. Do you think it is dying (been doing this for 1 month so far)?

  • @caseysousa Maxtor's had a series that was rapidly dying all over the world. I suppose it's a 80 Gb piece, right?

  • @caseysousa I agree. Also in order to do that kinda thing, you'd have to have some powerful tools, which are darn expensive...
