This was filmed Saturday June 6, 2009 at the Fleetwood Country Cruize in London, Ontario

Year: 1970
Make: Plymouth
Model: Superbird
Engine: 440 Super Commando, 440 Super Commando Six Barrel, 426 Hemi
Produced: 1,935

Yes i know i said Daytona in the video, i was referring to the fact that this car was based off the '69 Dodge Daytona, also the front fender scoops where for looks on the production Superbird and Daytona, but on the Nascar race versions, this allowed the fender to be cut to allow for tire clearance, also all production 1970 Superbirds have a Vinyl top, as this hides the weld seams left from the fitment of the flush mounted rear window,

not sure what engine this car has, but what ever engine it has, it will defiantly move! also i think these cars are really interesting, and i think its quite radical for a automaker to produce something this crazy for production, and it was sure a radical answer to the Ford Torino Talledega and the Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II, which had very good aerodynamics due to there slanted fast back profile, anyways these cars did not sit well with car buyers of the time, and some '70 Superbirds sat on the dealership lots in till 1972!, and many where converted to standard Roadrunners!, only this past decade has there value increased, and now they are quite collectible,

  • Hi Brent: I remember seeing one of those in Calgary a few years ago.

  • i think this is the first real one i have ever seen, besides pictures/videos and scale models, i can't say i have ever seen a '69 Dodge Daytona either, at least i don't think i have, now i have been to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan twice, and i can't remember if they have one there? and i can't say this one has been to this show before, also there pretty rare, and even more rare up here in Canada, and thanks for the comment Barry!

  • Nice one, Brent! I have always liked Plymouths of this era.

    5/5.

  • yep even the normal Road Runner is real neat car, i also love the Plymouth's of '57 and '58, i think the movie and book Christine really brought some well deserved attention to the '57-'58 Plymouth's, and since then i have discovered many great cars that have been forgotten to time, but Plymouth sure had some nice cars back in the day!

  • One of the coolest cars ever to hit pavement. Well worth the attention it gets from cops!

  • sure is Don, and thanks for the comment!

  • all the rear window trim and aero treatments are missing.looks like hell without it

  • one day we decided to look at a 41 jeep that was for sale. We stoped at this guys house to ask for directions and he said you guys want to see some cars. of course we said yes and it was unbilevible. he had two superbirds in this old run down barn. he said he just sold one for 1.2 mil and he said he shouldn't of let it go so cheap. along with some 1 of 1 cars. that is one day I will never forget.

  • MOPARS RULE!!! I got to make it to that show been living in lodon for a few years and have not made it to the fleetwood car show hopfully 2012 will be the year for me to go

  • Sick car, gotta love that!

  • @mroddy0862 Plymouth don,t make Chargers mate....I suggest you read up about Mopars some more...this car is based on a Plymouth Roadrunner...as for the wing and the nose...they,re there for a reason,to help it stay on the track at high speeds...not as pleasing to the eye as a 68-70 Charger or 70-71 Challenger or Cuda...but a nice car none the less

  • At the 2010 Chryslers on the Murray,I had one of these parked in front of my 68 Charger in the paddock behind the Ettamogah pub, with the rest of the Mopar Muscle cars(same color too)

  • I saw one of these today some people were sittin around it and two plymouth barracudas and they let me and my sister sit in it

  • @monarch1957 I saw an orange one in Calgary last week on Crowchild, I pulled up right behind it in my Camaro.

  • @gmcorvette Hardly a waste...these cars were meant to 200mph+ around Daytona and Talladega and win. And win they did. In no small part due to the downforce produced by that "waste"

  • @gmcorvette i like it
