I played UO from Late 1997 thru 2001 on the Catskills shard... Nothing I have played since has even come close to comparing... I wonder if a UO style game could make it in today's marketplace...

One last comment, I disagree as to why PVP style has changed. I remember how many people whined about wanting to just RPG or craft, and got killed all the time. MMORPG's are geared towards a younger crowd for the most part today. 10-14 years ago, there were more people older than teenagers playing games on computers. Adults get angry and want vengeance, they don't whine throw a temper tantrum and unsubscribe their expensive monthly payment.

Also, precasting PVP was just the best. Cast a spell that takes 5 seconds to send, so you have to run behind something to avoid your spell getting fizzeld, and time it just right to get line of sight as the spell finally casts. I've resorted to playing Star Wars the old republic, where you have to ASK to duel someone, and you cant even loot their body.

I really miss UO. They used to have some great free shards with great rules a few years back, but most suck now, as does OSI or w/e real servers called. I used to love sitting outside the bridge of that main town hidden, waiting for someone to get past the guard area, cast two walls of stones around them lock them in then flame field, then sever their head and put it on my doorstep.
