At Anime Banzai 2011, Tanglwyst de Hoillolway gives a writing panel about "When your characters do stuff without you." Sometimes it seems that the characters in your story will do stuff without you. In dictation method writing, the writer has full control. With discovery, the story takes a life of its own and the author watches and writes down what happens. Write what you know and the readers will learn what you are familiar with. Pay attention to when reviewers point out chickens and do research to catch then. Don't fight and let the rope go. Sometimes there has to be balance, and you have to get rid of a lesser of two evils. Writer may leave in odd scene and let characters deal with it. Chicken may catch and hold readers interest and keep them reading until chicken is explained. Sometimes with the choice between chickens and wagons becomes chickens on wagons.
