I first read about Carter in a sports magazine 40 years ago. Gave him the benefit of the doubt on his guilt. Then I read his biography "The16th Round"Like most criminals,he never accepted responsiblity for his actions. It was always someone elses fault. On the night of the murders, he really has no alibi.
Just driving around all night.

Carter worked jailhouse con jargon on people.Bleeding hearts or thugs like himself.
Poor me ,I was born black, that's why I led a life of crime. No other choice.
What tripe
But it works on some people.
Just look at all the ones defending him.
Of course they wouldn't invite him to come home with them.

People jump unto a cause without doing any research, other than a Hollywood movie. It saves them from having to use their brain.Carter was a life long thug.Who beat people in and out of the boxing ring.Like most lifetime convicts , he tries to play the victim, race blame. He made all of his own choices.
The only people who believe he is innocent ,are people who have their own axe to grind at society for their shortcomings and past!

i read both sides and though in all likelihood he was indeed guilty after 22 years i do believe he should be paroled as artis was after 15 years which at the time was the minimum time needed to get parole for a life sentence and 22 years is in fact longer than what i been alive for, just as oj was probably guilty but he got acquitted meaning he can't be tried anyway for double jeopardy even if new evidence appears casey was probably guilty though it might be more neglect than murder in her case.

@lozzassoc The prosecution took eyewitness accounts that said there were two black guys who had a car that looked similar to Carter's. No eyewitness ever identified either Carter or Artis, and Carter was identified by a victim as NOT being one of the shooters. After the murders the "Murder Weapons" were found and logged with a property clerk five days later. The police didn't bother to do fingerprinting or have the ability to do a paraffin test. The prosecution found two black guys with records.

Know who is at the bottom of the 'food chain?' People who make their hobby de-faming others. This thing is 45 yrs ago. Leave Carter alone. If he DID do it... he will give an account of himself before God someday. If He DIDN'T then his detractors are worse then he ever was.
FYI to Responders.
Any foul language or accusations of racism by either side -your messages will be deleted. Thank you.

these people are attacking Rubin carter without any hard evidence.
seriously, let the man live in peace. he served 22 years in prison for something he never did. AND there is hard evidence of his innocence, don't believe me?
GO DO SOME HARD EVIDENCE SEARCHING, NOT JUST YOUTUBE AND WIKIPEDIA!!!!

@concore1 The "hard evidence" proving Rubin Carter deserved to be convicted of pre-meditated murder TWICE by a jury made up of black and white jury and prosecution was compiled by independent court reporters who actually covered the trial. See Cal Deal's graphicwitness web site (won't let me post the site here)

@lozzassoc According to Artis and Carter, it was a jury of white people. Artis said, "Everything was white" in an interview. According to an investigative show, both Carter and Artis were released after they passed a lie-detector exam. According to news reports back then, Carter was implicated by a mystery witness, who later turned out to be a petty thief/burglar in the person of Bello. A grand jury even held that no indictment charges should be filed against the two.

@paugi1118 Sorry, in fact Carter and Artis FAILED Lie Detector test ...also there were 2 blacks in jury who voted guilty and one black in the Prosecution. Yes, Al Bello small time hood witness. Carter ex-con felon. Who would jury believe? In 75 Prosecutor gave Carter Artis unbelievable offer Take a NEW lie test. If you fail will NOT be used against you. If pass go free. They refused .So much for cries of innocence, the prosecutor wrote later.
