The Church has the right to participate in the social and political debate on the future of society, in the name of the Gospel and in order to remember essential moral values. Benedict XVI said this in his address to the bishops of England and Wales at the end of their Ad Limina visit. Fidelity to the Gospel means that pastors must present the full Christian doctrine, a right which does not clash with those of other members of society.
