The first movement of Vivaldi's Concerto in E major (RV 269), "Spring" (from The Four Seasons) performed by the American Baroque.
FAQ

Q: Who are the performers?
A: American Baroque, whose members are Elizabeth Blumenstock (baroque violin), Gonzalo X. Ruiz (baroque oboe), Stephen Schultz (baroque flute), Katherine Shao (harpsichord), and Roy Whelden (viola da gamba). Here is their artist page at Magnatune:
http://magnatune.com/artists/american_baroque
and here is their own web site:
http://www.americanbaroque.org

Q: Where can I get this recording?
A: The movement was licensed from Magnatune, where you can listen to or purchase the complete album it came from:
http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/abaroque-seasons/

Q: Huh? I thought this was a violin concerto; what are those other instruments?
A: The composition was originally for solo violin and string orchestra; here, it is performed with flute, oboe and violin as soloists.

Q: It's not in E major!
A: Right; it's been transposed to D major (to make it more suitable for flute and oboe).

Q: I hear a harpsichord, but I don't see it; why not?
A: The harpsichord part was not written by Vivaldi, but is improvised by the performer; this animation only shows the notes that are in the score.

  • the original is in E major, but this version is not in D. I have a musical ear and it sounds like D flat major, not D natural

  • @MrRaspberry1996 D was different during Vivaldi's life, and that's what these performers are using.

  • any particular reason youre going with these static scrolling shapes?

In some of your other vids, you have spheres connected by lines that scroll slowly up until right before that note is hit and it speeds up to that moment.

I understand using different shapes for different instruments but this seems like a step backwards in animation quality from that

  • @msfattytroll If you study the comments of all my videos, you will see that some people prefer it this way. I use whichever style of animation seems best-suited to the music.

  • sublme!

  • hmmm.. yes, yes indeed kind sir the song sounds lovely with my crumpets

  • @MrRaspberry1996

look up equal temperament. its hard to explain and understand why it sounds like that!

  • Really good but deff not in the right key...

  • Great visualization - but not one of my favorite arrangements of four seasons. The versions with all strings sound much more modern and complex ...

  • very good......

  • Why is the first violin not string?

  • In comparison with all the "German music" (Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, etc..) it looks fairly simple! :P

  • Waited for so long for you to do this, smalin! Ever since you did the Winter one. Thank you!
