At the end of my thank you presentation is Kermit doing a few tricks I taught him. When we got Kermit only 2 1/2 short months ago he was nearly wild not having been handled in 6 months!

  • There are 5 species of mini macaws and the Hahns is the smallest. I have 2 of them and both weigh in the 140 gram range.

  • what are you feeding him in the vid

  • @MsHorselover8 I don't recommend it, but I'm giving him very small pieces of cookie. too much sugar can lead to fungal development in the crop, plus it has no nutrition.

  • is that the full size or is he still going to grow ????

  • HI Danny,

That is the full size- a Hahns is the smallest of the 5 mini macaws :) Kermit is almost 3 in that video.

  • I'm such a BAD parront! Birds are such slow eaters. I don't recommend anyone give their bird junk food, but Kerm LOVES Nutter Butter cookies, especially the creme inside- LOL! and twizzlers too, and I usually only use them to teach a new trick- and the pieces are so small. He does like B/O Sunny seeds too, but they take so long to eat. He eats a pretty good diet otherwise and the treats are very small. The quicker they can eat their treat the more reps you can get in and the faster they learn:)

  • that looks like a conure not a macaw. do macaws come that little?

  • I love the kiss trick. My seven month old sun conure Linius does it with the sounds so every time he kisses me he makes a cute little kiss noise lol. He does that and nods yes when I wiggle my finger at him, he hasnt mastered this one yet but I give him lots of kisses when he does it right. He loves kisses so much I use them as a substitute for treats and have never had to buy treats for training lol

  • pretty cool Ive brought some really bad birds back to being pets too! Its an awesome feeling! I only have a peach front conure now 5 mth old. Take a look at my 2 minute video and please rate! thanks
