"Pigeon Square" holds the lovely old Sebilj water fountain from 1891, the only one remaining in Sarajevo. It resembles a gazebo rather than a water fountain and the "Pigeon" name is self-explanatory.
Down all the little side streets radiating off from this square. The former "Leather Street." Still working "Copper Street" with copper bracelets, coffee pots, ewers. A street filled with Sarajevo's version of fast food, lines of restaurants. A person could spend months eating without touching all the restaurant choices.
Though the 1551 stone Bursa Bedistan that was once a silk trading bazaar filled with small "knock-off" shops. Into the courtyard of the Gazi-Husrevbey Vakuf Mosque, one of the finest examples of Ottoman architecture in the world, built by court architect Sinan. A lot to see...
