The Womens Coxed Eights (W8+) Final at the 2004 Athens Olympics at Lake Schinias Rowing and Canoeing Centre.

1. Romania: 6:17.70
2: United States of America: 6:19.56
3. The Netherlands: 6:19.85
4. China: 6:21.71
5. Germany: 6:21.99
6. Australia: 6:31.65

Romanian 6-Seat Elisabeta Lipa won her 5th Olympic Gold Medal in this race.

Romanians Georgeta Damian-Andrunache (7-Seat) and Viorica Susanu (2-Seat) doubled up from the women's pair to win Andrunache's 4th Olympic Gold Medal and Susanu's 3rd Olympic Gold Medal.

This race is also infamously known for Sally Robbins (6 seat of the Australian W8+) "Lie back" incident. At about 1500m Sally Robbins started to have a panic attack which ceased by throwing away her oar and "lying back". This was a mental problem not a physical problem which some have perceived it to be.
