I don't see it ever happening in a large event (10,000+) for two reasons. 1. It's going to take a lot of time for the volunteers to place these lids on each and every cup and 2. You won't be able to stack the cups on top of each other as they always do in the larger events. Nice idea though, and maybe could work in a local 5k type of event.
