Syma Chinook Helicopter with Spycam test

Testing aerial videography on the cheap!

Uses a Syma 3-channel RC Chinook heli (about $40) with a 720x480 30fps keychain spycam (about $15). Since the camera has a CMOS sensor, it tends to have the "Jello" effect when panning / circling, but level/stable flight shots are quite good though. Need to work on the hovering and straight flight thing. Oh, and (ahem) the landings. This copter gets unstable when you back off the throttle too fast, front and rear rotor blades hit each other and then it tends to death spiral.

how do you put the keychain camera, on the helicopter itself?

@upernoe yes, its basically taped on the bottom upside down, although you could secure it better with a harness of some sort.

is this the large version of the helicopter?

@upernoe yes, it's the larger one. I don't think the smaller one would have enough lift.

Yes I happen to have the same problem... What you can do is first turn on the controller then if you notice there is an antena tied around the two back wheels. Simply untie it and let it hang loose then turn on the Heli. this should stop it from powering on its own. It might still occasionaly go full throttle but just wack the throttle up and you should have control again.

Help! I can't control mine cause when I turn on my chinook it wants to take off on its own... 27Mhz it's say on the box it came in. I'm in the city..
