No it wasnt, it was they did a huge sword fight but they thought it was too much so they decided he should just shoot him instead :)

The story behind this scene was that harrison had a terrible stomach bug and that this was the last day in that location so instead of doing a long fight scene he just shot him lol

The Only reason Indy did that is because Harrison Ford (Actor of Indy) Had Dy sentery. Still, extremely funny scene.
