One of Mulligan's finest films. This scene is particularly important because it shows how sensitive and destructive Jimmy Piersall is. If he can smash a crack in the door just because of a loud radio broadcast, it means he is very capable of nearly killing his teamates--which we will later see in the horrifying "breakdown" scene.
Perkins was such an incredible actor, and I love how deeply and sincerely he immersed himself in his roles. This was a terrific film. :)
