Dancing with Chimps

Playtime with 'Blacky', a pet chimpanzee we bought with us into the bush from Monrovia. Blacky was found in the city as a baby. If set free it would perish rather quickly. So he is kept as a pet. The kids in the local village were amazed as they are typically quite scared of these things and refer to all of them simply as 'Baboo'.

Must have also been pretty strange having a couple white guys show up with a chimp.

...and when the baby gets older and hard to manage? You are dooming the chimpanzee to a certain death or a life in a cage. Think ahead and act responsibly, the chimpanzee needs to be taken to a sanctuary. Do the right thing, and please don't use the excuse you are saving the chimp by keeping it as a pet because it can't survive in the wild. That reasoning only reinforces your lack of knowledge about chimps. Please take it to a sanctuary.

Blacky should be sent to a sanctuary asap. She is not a pet. She is a chimpanzee who needs to be with other chimps. Most likely Blacky was snatched from the arms of her mother as she was being slaughtered for bush meat.
