Watership Down, part one of episode one: The Promised Land. Captain Holly tells Hazel, Fiver, and Bigwig of a rabbit warren he encountered during his escape from Sandleford. The group decides to pay it a visit; but secret is Cowslip, the warren's leader, hiding from them?

Starring:

Ian Shaw as Hazel
Andrew Falvey as Fiver
Stephen Mangan as Bigwig
Lee Ross as Hawkbit
Phill Jupitus as Dandelion
Elliot Henderson-Boyle as Pipkin
Jane Horrocks as Hannah
Rik Mayall as Kehaar
Stephen Fry as Cowslip

The Watership Down television series was a co-production between Alltime Entertainment in the UK and Decode Entertainment in Canada which aired between 1999 and 2001. No willful copyright infringement is intended; I simply want to bring the show back for its fans.

  • after the rabbits ran off, did Frith say "You don't have to surrender to the shining wire" to Strawberry?

  • What's the rush you said. We've all the time in the world you said.

Hehe something poetic in that scene.

  • aw Strawberry was my favorite in the book! :) but he lost his doe :(

  • @Lostpathwarrior Yep, I was disappointed about that too.

  • Shame I never got to actually meet Stephen Fry during the recording of this episode.

  • I like the scene with man. He comes across the rabbitless peg-snare and thinks. "Hmmm they're learning.... Well time to up the ante" and then uses metal pegs. BWUAHAHAHAHAH ... yeah we humans are real cruel >:(

  • um... Holly should know how to get Bigwig out of the snare, he was the Ousla captain.

  • It's sad that being artistic is being seen as laziness or sloth in this episode. I can see why, for rabbits it makes sense, but as a kid I wondered what they had against "Making Shapes".

  • @null266872 this was one of the more twisted chapters that I remember in the original story... Almost sends a "suicide cult" message.

  • horse: oh, hey rabbits! Btw, watch out for the warren of death!

    No? okie dokie then!
